Another Season to Remember

As the northern race season has closed, I'm hoping everyone had the opportunity to participate in the sport we all love this past year. While I personally was not able to attend as many races as I would have liked, I did enjoy being at the Detroit Grand Prix and a race at Waterford Hills.

It's now time to go through our personal equipment, discard what's not going to be needed, refresh anything that may need it, and replace that which has passed its useful life. My track bag is still in the trunk of my car, hoping for just one more race.

I hope each of you is enjoying this holiday season. Be safe, stay healthy and I look forward to seeing you at a nearby track and race in 2026.

The dates for the Detroit Grand Prix have been confirmed for the last weekend in May. As we receive confirmation of schedules for other series and tracks nearby, we'll post them on the MTM website, so stay tuned.

All the best,

Steve Balanecki

Here’s news about upcoming events for the SCCA F & C team in our Great Lakes Division from DA Ed Arthur (MTM Member)

Here’s What’s Happening

Thank You for a Great 2025 Season

In the midst of the holidays, I want to say a genuine thank-you to all of you who supported the 2025 Great Lakes Division races. Your time, energy, and know-how made a real difference this year. Together, we put on safe events, had some fun along the way, and created plenty of good times, friendship, and some memories at the track. I’m especially grateful to the volunteers who showed up early, stayed late, and handled whatever the day threw at them. What you do out on the corners and behind the scenes is the reason our races work as well as they do.

As usual, a big thank-you to our Flag Chiefs:

  • H.C. Colwell (GingerMan),

  • Nathan McCormick (Grattan),

  • Dylan Daugherty and Jonathan Palmer (Mid-Ohio),

  • Bill Crowe, Kurt Stevens and Dan McNally (Nelson Ledges),

  • Ron Cech and Cindy Wisner (Waterford Hills.)

Their efforts and dedication guaranteed that every event ran smoothly and that we could all enjoy the sport we love. We couldn’t do it without them. Thank you!

Looking ahead, the upcoming season’s schedule will be posted on the GLD website soon at https://www.gldscca.com/road-racing. I'd especially like you to think about joining us for the Spring Training Conference on Saturday, Feb 28. Also, maybe plan an away race or two around the division where I can assure you'll be in for a warm welcome at any of our tracks.

As the year winds down and we celebrate Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Festivus, other holidays and New Year's, I hope you’re able to slow down, enjoy the off-season, and spend meaningful time with family and friends. I’m looking forward to seeing you all back at the track in the year ahead.

Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a healthy, happy New Year,

Ed Arthur
